The 2nd Russian Study Group with Industry

The 2nd Russian Study Group with Industry (RSGI-2011) will be held from 19 to 23 September 2011 in the Space Research Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

What is Study Groups with Industry about?

One week (Monday to Friday) forum is expected to bring together Russian industrial scientists and leading mathematicians and physicists from the academic community to work on problems of direct industrial relevance. In a week of brainstorming and mathematical modeling there is usually enough time to generate and assess many ideas for solving the problem, and usually some of the ideas are checked in more detail.
Industry participants present their problems on Monday. The group of scientists then devote the entire week aiming for solutions of the problems. By Friday the groups present their final solution.
The RSGI-2011 is organized by Oxford Centre for Collaborative and Applied Mathematics (OCCAM), Oxford University (http://www.maths.ox.ac.uk/groups/occam)
