Blade flutter prediction in jet engine compressors

Blade flutter is aeroelastic instability leading to high-amplitude vibrations and fatigue damage of compressor blades. It is one of the most serious problem in design of new high-pressure engines. Deeper understanding of physical nature and development of new numerical procedures for flutter prediction is one of the most challenging problem in jet engine industry.

Rotating stall in jet engine blade passage

Rotating stall in blade passage air flow is dynamical stall periodically moving from one blade to another and creating resonance excitation force for the blades. Up to date, effective mathematical models and numerical algorithms for analysis and prediction of this phenomenon are developed very little.
